Substrate Physical Tolerance & Machine Synchronicity Matrix

In high-speed bag converting lines, raw material thickness variations and moisture imbalance are the primary causes of roll telescoping, ultrasonic horn overheating, and web tear. OYANG benchmarks every reel against strict laboratory-tested rheological and mechanical thresholds:

Raw Material SubstratePhysical Tolerance / Chemical SpecConverting Performance Impact
Brown Kraft Paper RollMoisture content: 6.5% ± 1.0%; TEA index > 2.2 J/gPrevents edge cracking during 90° bottom gusset scoring; stabilizes water-based adhesive cure rate in roll-fed paper bag machines.
PP Spunbond Nonwoven RollMelt Flow Index (MFI): 35 ± 3 g/10min (230°C, 2.16kg)Guarantees rapid molecular fusion during 20 kHz ultrasonic handle stamping, eliminating cold-welds and preventing fabric pinholes.
BOPP Roll Barrier FilmSurface tension ≥ 38 dynes/cm; Seal Initiation Temp ≤ 105°CPrevents ink flaking during 10-color flexo/gravure printing; ensures airtight hermetic side seals at 240 CPM on pouch conversion lines.
GRS Recycled RPET NonwovenMelting temp: 255°C–260°C; Cross-direction elongation < 25%Delivers 5× higher tensile strength than standard PP; fully compliant with EU Packaging Waste Regulations and Global Recycled Standard audits.

Every substrate batch delivered by OYANG is pre-tested across our automated converting test-bench lines inside our 130,000 m² manufacturing park, guaranteeing that material tension profiles, core roundness (TIR ≤ 0.5 mm), and surface energy perfectly synchronize with machine unwind units.

Technical FAQ

Bag Making Raw Materials — Frequently Asked Questions

Clear engineering answers regarding substrate machine compatibility, minimum order quantities, eco-certifications, and container shipping.

Do I need to buy materials from OYANG if I purchase a machine?
No, it is not mandatory. OYANG machines are compatible with standard market materials. However, purchasing from OYANG ensures perfect compatibility — correct GSM range, roll width and core diameter — reducing setup time and minimizing material waste during initial production runs. We also offer sample rolls for testing before bulk orders.
What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for raw materials?
MOQ varies by material type: Kraft paper rolls — approx. 500–1,000 kg per spec; Non-woven fabric rolls — 500 kg per color/GSM; Flexible film rolls — 300–500 kg per structure. For sample testing, smaller quantities can be arranged. Please contact us with your specific requirements.
What is the difference between Brown Kraft and White Kraft paper?
Brown Kraft is unbleached — maximum fiber strength, natural eco appearance, lower cost. Ideal for fast food bags, grocery bags and paper rope. White Kraft is bleached — clean surface perfect for full-color CMYK printing. Preferred for fashion retail bags, bakery bags and pharmaceutical packaging. Both offer excellent tensile strength.
What is RPET non-woven fabric and why do EU/US brands prefer it?
RPET (Recycled PET) non-woven is made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. It supports GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certification — required by major retailers like Walmart, Tesco and IKEA for private-label reusable bags. RPET also has higher tensile strength and heat resistance than standard PP non-woven, making it ideal for premium reusable shopping bags.
What does BOPP / CPP / PET mean and which one do I need?
BOPP — outer print layer, crystal clear, crispy, excellent for printing. CPP — inner heat-seal layer, soft, flexible, melts easily for bag sealing. PET — premium outer layer, heat resistant, high barrier, used for coffee, pet food and pharmaceutical pouches. Most pouches use a laminated structure: BOPP or PET (outside) + optional AL foil (middle) + CPP or PE (inside).
Can materials be shipped together with my machine order?
Yes. We can consolidate your machine and initial material supply into a single container shipment, significantly reducing total freight cost. This is especially popular for customers setting up a new production line. Please inform your sales contact when placing your machine order.
Do you provide FSC or food-grade certified materials?
Yes. Our kraft paper rolls are available with FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification, required by many European and North American buyers. Food-grade (FDA / SGS certified) options are available for white kraft paper and certain flexible film structures — suitable for direct food contact applications such as bakery bags, burger wrappers and pharmaceutical pouches.
How do I know which GSM is right for my bag type?
Paper bags: 70–120 gsm for standard shopping bags; 30–60 gsm for food/bakery bags; 180–300 gsm for luxury boutique bags. Non-woven bags: 30–60 gsm for T-shirt/vest bags; 60–80 gsm for D-cut bags; 80–100 gsm for box bags. Flexible pouches: 12–50 μm per layer in a 2–4 layer laminate. Contact our team with your bag dimensions and load requirements for a precise recommendation.
